RAF Graveley was rapidly closed down after the war had ceased. The squadron was made available for a goodwill tour of the United States, while the remaining men were posted elsewhere or if their services were no longer required-then back to civilian life. Some of the postings involved clerical or manual tasks at other bases where the mass of surplus equipment was collected prior to sale or destruction.
The airfield did continue as a relief landing ground for RAF Oakington ( several miles to the east of Graveley.) as can be seen from this Landing chart (via Adrian James.)
